Huawei P9, P9 Plus is available on GizOK

Huawei has more or less confirmed that they will introduce the Huawei P9 on April 6th in London. The company has released several teasers in which they not only confirmed that the P9 is coming, but that it will sport a dual camera setup, chamfered edges, all-metal build, and that it will feature Leica's imaging technology. That being said, Huawei has finally unveiled their new flagship in London, well, the company has actually unveiled two P9 devices, but the P9 Plus will be covered separately.

At first glance, the P9 doesn't look a whole lot different from its predecessor, the Huawei P8. It's slightly less angular, a hair thicker at 6.95mm (versus 6.4mm) but not particularly adventurous in its design. Not that there's anything wrong with Huawei's formula. The P9 is thin, light, extremely well-built and clad in aluminum, giving it a premium-y vibe. An almost edge-to-edge display dominates the front of the device, but there's no real upgrade in this department. Like the P8, the P9 sports a 5.2-inch IPS panel of full HD resolution (1,920 x 1,080).

The basic model of the P9 has 32 gigabytes of storage and costs $683. In the U.K., Apple sells its cheapest iPhone 6s, with 16 gigabytes, for $759, and Samsung sells its simplest version of the S7, with 32 gigabytes, for $801.

The phone will be available beginning April 16 in at least 29 countries, including China, several European markets and the Middle East. The company will also sell a version of the P9 with a bigger screen, called the P9 Plus, however, Huawei has not announced P9 Lite and P9 Max.

Overall, the Huawei P9 Plus feels great to hold, looks fantastic, and it is smooth and fast. While battery life is an unknown quantity, Huawei says it can play HD video non-stop for 12 hours straight, so I will definitely test this out. The camera seems impressive, but whether this will prove true or not remains to be seen.
