Huawei P9 has sold more than 9 million

The Huawei P9 was released back in April but it appears that the company has had a huge success with the phone as nine million units have been sold. It's been almost seven months since the phone was released but Huawei continues to sell the phone as if it had been released a month ago. Huawei, the world's third largest smartphone maker, had sold six million Huawei P9 phones in September, so the company has sold another three million in two months.

The Huawei Honor 8 was announced as the alternative choice to the Huawei P9. Interested fans will surely be excited to know that the handset is already available for pre-order on GizOK for $349.

According to GizOK, the recently unveiled smartphone sports a 5.2-inch Full HD 2.5 curved glass design, a sleek way to own a smartphone with a very reasonable price of $349.

Honor 8 is available on the market in two variants which depend on the storage capacity. The first variant has 4 GB of RAM and the other has 3 GB of RAM. The latter model is available in two color options: white or gold. The 4 GB model, on the other hand, is available in white, blue and gold.

Both models will come with dual cameras installed at the rear. Its 12 MP feature does not only take high-definition photos, but it is also able to capture 1080p videos and 720p videos in slow motion.

Other specs include a Kirin 950 chipset and built-in memory storage of 32 GB or 64 GB, depending on the chosen variant. The handset runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0 with EMUI 4.1 and is capable of providing users with longer life with its 3150 mAh battery.

"The energy efficient display features CABC and DRAM (Display RAM) technology that adjust the level of backlight and differentiate between dynamic and static content on your screen," the description on the handset's efficiency reads.

While the P9 has an all-metal unibody construction, the Honor 8 has metal frame edges and glass panels on its front and rear. This makes the recent model look bulkier compared to the P9.

Huawei has partnered with Leica for the P9's shooter. Leica is one of the most respected names in photography circles, with its own cameras renowned for elite-level performance. While Leica hasn't provided any hardware for the phone, Huawei has said that the overall quality is sufficient for Leica to "certify" the phone.

You'll find a variety of other shooting modes on board as well, including HDR, panorama and a manual mode that lets you set your own shutter speed. There's also a beauty mode for the 5-megapixel front-facing camera, which artificially lightens your skin, widens your eyes and slims your face, turning you into something more akin to an alien.

Video is shot at 1080p resolution, rather than the 4K video you can snag on the P9 Lite, P9 Max. Still, you at least have options for slow motion and you can shoot time lapses too.

The smartphones are priced at 599 pounds (about Rs.56,000) and 749 pounds (about Rs.70,000). They will be available in Europe from April 16. The company has not said when they will be available in India.

Earlier, Huawei had beaten Apple to the force touch or 3D touch technology with its Huaiwe Mate S smartphone launched in September, 2015. It is currently the world's third largest smartphone manufacturer behind Samsung and Apple, and is bested in its home nation only by Apple.

The company has released several teasers in which they not only confirmed that the P9 is coming, but that it will sport a dual camera setup, chamfered edges, all-metal build, and that it will feature Leica's imaging technology. That being said, Huawei has finally unveiled their new flagship in London, well, the company has actually unveiled two P9 devices, but the P9 Plus will be covered separately.

There's now only a week until the Huawei P9 official launch, scheduled for April 6. Can't hurt if we get to know a few more bits in advance though, this time courtesy of AnTuTu. The benchmark maker has listed the upcoming Huawei flagship, complete with specs and test results.

It looks like the feature-enhanced Huawei P9 recently visited AnTuTu (a benchmark tool for Android devices), leaving a list of specs behind. According to AnTuTu, this particular Huawei P9 (model number EVA-AL10) comes with 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of internal memory, and an octa-core Kirin 955 processor (instead of a Kirin 950). Other features seem to be similar to those that the regular P9 will bring, including an 8 MP front-facing camera, a dual 12 MP rear camera, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
