Huawei predicted to be smartphone market leader in 2016

Huawei is expected to lead smartphone vendors with the highest shipment growth rate in 2016 as other brands including Samsung Electronics, Apple and Xiaomi are likely to see their shipments stay flat or even decline on year, according to industry sources.

Huawei's Honor phones will be upgraded to Android 6.0 Marshmallow

According to a report published today, some of those who own the Huawei Honor 7, will soon be part of a beta test for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. The final version of the update is expected to start getting pushed out in February. Phones receiving it will include the Honor 7, along with the Huawei Honor 4C, Huawei Honor 4X, Huawei Honor 6 and Huawei Honor 6 Plus.

Huawei Q3 shipments of up to 27 million

Huawei saw year-on-year smartphone shipments spike 63 per cent in its third quarter. Third-quarter deliveries climbed 81 percent and 98 percent in China and Europe respectively from a year ago. About a third of the quarterly shipments were mid- to high-end models, Huawei said, up from 25 percent a year earlier.

Huawei won the top spot in China's smartphone market

Huawei and Xiaomi are the two biggest players in China at the moment. These two companies are constantly trading places as number one smartphone OEMs in China, and have been able to sell a ton of devices both last and this year.

Research company Canalys called it a "remarkable feat" by Huawei, best known outside China for its network equipment, and one that puts Xiaomi under tremendous pressure to maintain its growth rate elsewhere in the world.
